REVIEWS: BAD GRANDPA

Was "Bad Grandpa" a bad movie?

It's been over 12 years since Mtv's Jackass first hit cable television and over 10 years since the first Jackass movie hit theaters. When we first heard of Bad Grandpa we thought back to the original Jackass skit from the movie where Johnny Knoxville was dressed up as an old man shoplifting. The scene was hilarious and very original.

It's been a while since we heard anything from the boys of Jackass, until now. Johnny Knoxville slaps on the rubber-faced makeup one more time for Bad Grandpa. So does the film live up to the expectations most fans of the Jackass series would have? Or is this just another low budget film people should download for free instead of paying to see?

What we liked
The unpredictable moments, The location, The ending.

What we loved
The makeup on Johnny Knoxville, The reactions from some of the pranks.

What we didn't like
The plot, The cast, The predictability of the pranks.

What we hated
That we spent money to see it.

---------------------------------------------------------

Half way through we realized something more disturbing than Johnny Knoxville's antics, that we actually paid to see this movie. If this had been on cable television maybe it wouldn't have left such a bad taste in our mouths and in our pockets.

We wouldn't recommend Bad Grandpa to anyone who isn't a hardcore fan of Jackass. Even though we are big fans, it just felt uninspired to us. The really funny parts were out-matched by the not so funny pranks and dialogue. The idea could only stretch so far then it just becomes overkill. Bad Grandpa felt like we were watching a really long Jackass skit and all its out-takes and bonus footage.

What did you think of Bad Grandpa? Was it worth the ticket price?
