NORDSTROM VS MACY'S VS JCPENNY

Shopaholics go head to head in this weeks street survey.

Spending can become a very bad habit very fast if not controlled, but how can we lessen the damage? Is there damage control for such a vicious impulse? Price tags can make you think you're getting a deal, but these retailers aren't taking a loss. Even on clearance the margins are wide enough for healthy a profit.

So when it comes to the three biggest names in our shopping malls, how do they compare with each other? Since women are bigger shoppers than men, it was only appropriate to seek out the finest females for our study. We found just 10 of the most qualified shopaholics in California and asked them there views on the three. We put some attributes to the test and compared the overall experience, prices and availability of these giant retailers.

What has the best deals? Who has the best coupons? Who has the best customer service? Who's more expensive? Who gives out the most samples? We'll lets find out together. -

JiPoshy Recommends

Having a partnership with Sephora, JCPenny seems to be the best bet for shoppers looking for a deal with free samples along the way. Our shopaholics also mentioned JCPenny has more deals and coupons than their competitors. Macy's has coupons, but they usually carry some specific limitation on them. However, those who are looking to be treated like royalty should stick with Nordstrom. Their customer service, and prices seem to be really over the top.

So what do you think? Do you have a personal preference you'd like to share? Did you have a pleasant experience or a horrible disaster at one of these retailers? Leave a comment below.

Interesting Facts

  • Ron Johnson, launcher of the Apple store locations, led JCPenny through a 17 month disaster as he tried to change the company to be more "hip". Johnson changed the price-points, design, and even the logo of the retailer which resulted in a backlash from long time shoppers. JCPenny eventually fired Johnson and reverted back to it's old model.

  • As of December 2013, Nordstrom was named top fashion retailer by WWD.

  • The high-end retailer Bloomingdale's, is owned by Macy's Inc.
